Birdwatchers will love Ecuador - renown for its quality birding, rare species and abundant bird life.
In Maquipucuna, there are more than 347 bird species, including Golden-Headed-Quetzal, Toucanets, Mot Mots and an active Cock-of-the-Rock Lek. At least 25 of those birds are migratory species. This region is considered to hold among the highest bird diversity in the world.
There are at least three different vegetation zones to explore: pre-montane humid forest, low-montane humid forest and montane humid forest.
Rainy season in the jungle is most of the year, with temperatures usually 23-26 Celcius with little seasonal or daily variation.
Napo is a community run lodge in the heart of pristine rainforest. The lodge is just a part of a conservation project that includes the conservation of pristine Amazon Rain Forest within the Yasunì National Park, an important biosphere reserve and the largest tract of tropical rain forest in Ecuador. It is full of wildlife and birds and a great place to explore.
We have other jungle lodges and trek options which focus on birdwatching, please contact us for more information.
