Inca Trail - Salkantay Alternative

This supported trek close to the shimmering flanks of Salkantay covers a distance of approximately 80 km over 5 days.

It is a beautiful, though tough walk, with the awesome backdrop of Salkantay, the range's highest mountain, for the first two days.

Along the breathtaking route we experience an impressive sweep of altitudes, from the ice-capped summit of Salkantay down through puna grassland and cloud forest to sub-tropical jungle at just 2,000 metres above sea level.

The trek culminates with a guided tour of the Machu Picchu ruins. This is a great way to trek to the lost Inca City.

Please note: You must be well acclimatised before starting this trek - ie a minimum of 3 nights in Cusco (or higher).

Off the beaten track

With spectacular glacial vistas, we descend through a stunning progression of ecological zones ranging from sparsely vegetated alpine meadows to lush sub-tropical valleys.

A true Andean odyssey, this trek through the dramatic Cordillera Vilcabamba offers a wonderful alternative for those who want to take a less-traveled and exceptionally beautiful route to Machu Picchu.
