Itinerary: Tierra del Fuego Trek
Day 1
We pick you up at your hotel and head out of Ushuaia to the base of the Martial glacier, just 15 minutes from the city.
Head off hiking up the ski slope, cross the black Col and head steeply down the black ravine. Picnic lunch at the base of Cerro Tonelli. An easy three-hour walk through an enchanted forest passing beaver dams on the way will lead us to our campsite, on the shore of arroyo Grande (Big stream). The camping spot is in the middle of the forest, and our equipment will be already there together with a well-deserved snack
Day 2
On the second day we reach the ice! Right after breakfast we start out for Vinciguerra glacier where we put on crampons and trek out onto the ice led by our guide. Lunch on the shore of the lake and in the afternoon have a go at some ice climbing. Return to the campsite for tea.
Day 3
On the last day we climb mount Esfinge, which has a superb view overlooking Ushuaia, the Beagle Channel and all its islands. If the weather is really good you may even see the Darwin Range and the islands around Cape Horn, just 130km from Ushuaia. Trek back to town for a hot shower and cold beer.
