Ausangate Lodge-based Trek
Our breathtaking trek in the Cordillera Vilcanota, Peru, is a must for trekking lovers who want home comforts at night. After a day spent hiking among the stunning Andes, you retire at night to our cosy lodges, run by the local Chillca community.
You hike close to the highest and one of the most sacred mountains in the Cusco region, Ausangate, from which the local name of trek is taken - Camino del Apu Ausangate. The Apu is the bearer of life and the guardian of one of the pristine mountain ecosystems you will visit.
Chillca community
This fully-supported hike uses llamas and horses that are owned by the shepherds of the Chillca community. These Andean people are proud to share their land and the spirit of their inspiring world with you at every step.
At night, you rest in a comfy bed in our unique Tambos, Andean Lodges. Authentic local music from members of the communities will accompany some of your nights in the tambos, as you sup on a variety of delicious Peruvian cuisine.
We also have longer, camping-based treks around Ausangate, a Luxury Lodge trek in the Salkantay region which leads to Machu Picchu, and indeed a Luxury Inca Trail among many other Peru treks.
