See the sites of Cusco and trek the the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu
The former Inca Capital and Spanish colonial city of Cusco is our base for this small group adventure tour. Cusco is a wonderful city full of culture, history, good restaurants and fun nightlife, something for everyone's tastes.
From Cusco we travel through the Sacred Valley of the Incas, passing the Inca Fortress town of Ollantaytambo, before embarking on the famous Inca Trail to the lost city of the Incas, Machu Picchu.
The Inca Trail trek involves spectacular Andean scenery along an ancient paved Inca trail. We have plenty of time to treasure each view and the many ruins en-route.
We offer a luxury (set dates) and standard version (daily departures) of this trip, to suit your budget and dates.
Itinerary 1 - Luxury Inca Trail
A night is spent in the colourful town of Aguas Calientes before spending the whole day exploring the awe-inspiring, ‘wonder of the world’, Machu Picchu. The return to Cusco is by ‘Vistadome’ train and private bus. The final day is spent relaxing in Cusco’s ancient streets, artisan markets or excellent restaurants and bars.
Itinerary 2 - Standard Inca Trail
You spend 3 nights in Cusco before setting off on the trek. One of the highlights is arriving at the Sun Gate of Machu Picchu at dawn, your first glimpse of the ruins coming as the day's rays filter through.
You spend the day exploring the awe-inspiring Machu Picchu before returning to Cusco on the standard train.
Onward travel
This trip can be combined with a number of extensions such as a trip to an Amazon rainforest lodge, Arequipa and the Colca Canyon, or a boat trip on Lake Titicaca, or for thrill-seekers, why not raft the Apurimac.
