Discover Ecuador on the active holiday: trekking, biking, horse riding and climb a volcano.
Despite its small size, Ecuador is one of the most geographically varied countries in the world and is known as a kind of giant natural laboratory. Charles Darwin and Edward Whymper both published adventure books recounting tales of fantastic animals, ice-capped volcanoes and impenetrable Amazonian jungle. With its snow-capped Andes peaks, the Pacific coast, Galapagos Islands and expanse of rainforest this compact and diverse country is rapidly becoming one of the most popular destinations in South America.
Our 12 day Ecuador Active tour is designed for those who not only want to see as much as possible of Ecuador but also want a more active holiday. At the start and end of your tour Ecuador’s vibrant capital Quito awaits with its beautiful Old Town, cobbled streets, pretty squares and a multitude of colonial buildings and churches. You will receive a warm welcome from the colourful native Indians, witness the inspiring colonial architecture of the cities, experience the vibrant culture of the Hispanic villages and be constantly surrounded by the breathtaking scenery of green mountains patch-worked with corn fields and stark majestic snow-capped volcanoes that reach out to the crystal sky.
We are taking you close to the coulourful Ecuadorian culture on your visit of the famous Otavalo market where traditionally dressed Otavaleños can be seen on every street corner, and introduce you to the distinct Afro – Ecuadorian culture in the Imbabura region which developed from black slaves brought into the country by the Spanish conquerors. You will experience the diverse nature of this small country by hiking in subtropical cloud forest, horseback riding through the stunning highlands, ziplining through the forest canopy, mountain biking in Cotopaxi National Park on the slopes of Ecuador’s highest volcano (5,897m) and rafting the mighty Toachi and Blanco Rivers.
Ecuador truly is one of South America’s best kept secrets. Now is the time to enjoy its many trails which are still quiet and well off the main tourist routes.
This tour can be followed by a cruise in the magical Galapagos Islands. If you want to stay on the mainland a little longer why not explore the Amazon jungle or go white water rafting!
