On this 8 day tour trek through wildlife rich virgin forest to the majestic Kaieteur Falls, in the undiscovered wilderness of Guyana.

Our trip starts in the busy Carribean city of Georgetown. A city tour and trip briefing prepare us for the trip ahead.

Our adventure begins. We head to the Konawaruk Mountains, and the Potaro River, where we leave our vehicles. Keep your eyes open as sightings of currsow, deer and jaguar are frequent along the road.

Heading by canoe and on foot wherever possible up the Potaro River we reach Amatuk Falls. Water rushes over rocks creating a natural Jacuzzi.

A boat ride next day takes us into the deeply cut Kaieteur Gorge. Steep mountains tower on either side to heights of 2,000ft. Camp at Waratuk Falls.

A strenuous eight hour hike through verdant jungle. A refreshing swim and spectacular view of the Gorge await at camp.

A steep 4 hour climb today to the top of the Kaieteur Falls. Gushing water coools the ascent. At the top all the strains are washed away with our first glimpse of the mighty Kaieteur - highest single-drop waterfall in the world.

Dusk brings thousands of swifts gathering in the sky to then plunge through the falls to their nesting sites behind.

The early morning mist of Kaieteur lifts to give fantastic views of the falls. The golden frog can easily be spotted - it spends its entire life from tadpole to maturity in just one bromeliad. Look out for the bright orange Cock of the Rock.

A light aircraft takes us back over the forest to Georgetown.
