Moderate trek / 15 days from Lima, Peru
Peru Highlights holiday: Visit Lima, Arequipa, Colca Canyon, Lake Titicaca, Cusco and trek the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.
On our small group, fully guided adventure holiday, we travel southern Peru, stopping off at the highlights and then trek along the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.
We fly first to the colonial city of Arequipa and the dramatic landscapes of the Colca Canyon. This canyon is one of the deepest in the world and a great place to spot the Andean condors.
From Arequipa we fly to the market town of Juliaca on the altiplano and continue by bus to Puno at a breathtaking 3,830m, lying on the shore of Lake Titicaca, the world's highest navigable lake.
We make a two-day lake trip to visit the Indians of Taquile and Amantani Islands, one of Peru's unique and beautiful spots.
Cusco and the Inca Trail
Next we continue to Cusco, the heart of the Inca Empire and hub of activity for local highland Indians trading in today’s busy markets. This is a beautiful city with plenty to see and an active nightlife to suit all tastes.
Now well acclimatised, we set out from Cusco for the Inca Trail. This stunning four day trek along the royal road leads us to the enigmatic site of Machu Picchu - read our blog about its highlights.

The service we received from Tom and Andean Trails was fantastic. Thank you! We’ve had an excellent honeymoon. We will be recommending you to everyone!K Board
The whole trip was very well organised, we never had any problems. All the hotels were of a high standard, much higher than I was expecting. Also what makes the holiday is the guides, all guides were enthusiastic, very knowledgeable and proud of their heritage and country. Very impressed.V Luscombe
It was terrific. I've been meaning to get in touch to let you know how happy we were and how impressed we were with the quality and level of professionalism throughout. Hernan did a great job getting us set up and David was a wonderful guide. He was very knowledgeable and patient, and we felt confident in him throughout. We also loved the quality of service on the trek. The food was wonderful and the entire staff were very thoughtful, attentive and kind. Finally, we loved the walk and the magnificent scenery.C Grossman
Just a quick thank you for an amazing holiday. We had a wonderful experience - highlights were Colca Canyon - well worth an extra day to soak up the atmosphere walking in the valley, condor viewing (saw loads), Monasterio de Santa Catalina, both treks and of course Machu Picchu. Sacred Valley was also great but not to keen on Urubamba - well situated as a base but not great for walking around at night. Inti Raymi was very colourful and fun - glad we didn't book seats - they looked so uncomfortable.
Special thanks also to Tullio - he organised the trip to Sacred Valley very quickly and came to the rescue when our transfer did not show at the airport to get us to the Huaraz bus. We rang him (It was Sunday) wiith less than 45 mins to the bus depature, got ourselves a taxi, raced across Lima, met him at the bus station, left him with our extra bags and jumped on the bus with a minute to spare!!!! On our return to Lima we then took over his office floor space to rearrange our bags for the flight home!Neil Buckley
A brilliant holiday – thanks for all your help and advice in setting it up. We felt well looked after throughout but always free to enjoy things at our own pace. The quality (and comprehensiveness of things covered/included) made it extremely good value for money.A Clapham
