The Andes
Peru is a country of geographical extremes, from arid deserts to lush Amazon rainforest plus the towering Andes mountain chain.
The Andes are the longest mountain range in the world and contain many of the highest peaks outside the Himalayas. Of these, a large proportion is found in Peru. This is the ideal destination for a trekking trekking or mountaineering adventure.
Climate
The best time for trekking in the Andes of Peru is May to October. This is the dry season with generally bright sunny days and cold clear nights.
Rainforest
Peru has some of the most pristine rainforest and varied fauna in the Amazon. It can be wet all year round but more so in January-March.
Lake Titicaca
Peru is also home to Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world. A trip to Taquile, one of the islands in the lake, and the floating islands of Uros is to step back in time.
