There’s plenty of time to enjoy the unique atmosphere and spring climate of the ‘White City’ while you acclimatise.
From Arequipa there is the option of a rewarding 2-day side-trip to the Colca Canyon.
This is one of the world’s deepest canyons and a renowned location for observing the Andean Condor.
Lake Titicaca
Next, a short flight up to the Altiplano city of Juliaca. From here, drive through puna landscapes to Puno (3,850m), on the shore of Lake Titicaca.
Next day, you cross the lake for an overnight visit to Taquile Island. You stay a night in a family home within this fascinating native community, where there are no roads or electricity.
