Mountain bike the Andes and trek to Machu Picchu
A challenging mountain bike adventure in Peru combined with the Inca Trail trek to Machu Picchu.
We cycle from the highland valleys of Cusco to the upper valleys of the Amazon rainforest.
The Andes
Our vehicle-supported mountain bike route takes us via ancient Inca sites.
We cycle through remote mountain communities above 4,000 metres.
There are great views of peaks before we descend to the lower Andean valleys.
The Amazon
The climate becomes increasingly warm and humid; the many streams we encounter provide refreshing showers.
We reach the jungle town of Quillabamba at 1,000 metres.
Our return route allows a 1,500 metre descent to Ollantaytambo in the Sacred Valley.
Inca Trail
After a day off we set off on the four day Inca Trail trek to Machu Picchu.
On the last day we arrive at the Sun Gate and catch the magnificent ruins.
We return to Cusco by train and relax before flying to Lima.
You could extend your trip by trekking the Inca Trail or visiting the Amazon.
