Wilds of Tambopata

This pristine area of Amazon rainforest offers excellent opportunities for wildlife watching. Among the many highlights is the overnight visit to the Chuncho macaw lick. Here, thousands of macaws and parrots gather to eat the mineral-rich clay.

It is well worth extending your holiday in Peru with a trip to the Amazon rainforest. There are many other Amazon Lodges to choose from.

The great advantage of Tambopata is that is accessible by a short flight from Lima or Cusco. After a fascinating journey up the Tambopata reserve where wildlife abounds, you find yourself deep into pristine Amazon rainforest teeming with life.

Highlights include the macaw clay lick, where hundreds of birds gather at dawn in an amazing spectacle, forest walks and the Sandoval Lake.

You could extend your trip by trekking the Inca Trail or visiting other parts of the Amazon.
