General Information
Every year cold weather, avalanches, crevasse fall, human fall, rock and ice fall cause fatalities within the climbing world. All too often, eager and under-prepared adventurers strike off to the mountains with the impression that the "non-technical" label given to the mountain they are about to climb implies that the mountain is free from the above mentioned dangers.
These climbers often are completely oblivious to the hazards they are assuming when they climb. They simple trudge along relying on luck and the foot tracks left behind by other earlier mountain users. When problems arise and accidents happen these climbers tend to be surprised. Truly understanding the mountain hazards is the first step to becoming a responsible mountaineer.
