Sea lions, whales and orcas aplenty in Peninsula Valdes and Tierra del Fuego, with penguin colonies, guanacos and more.

In the Ibera wetlands, you float by caiman and enormous rodents called capybara, as well as a panoply of bird life.

Monkeys abound in the rainforest around Iguazu Falls, and Ushuaia is the jumping off point for tours to Antarctica.

We have been to Niagara but Iguazu is just another ball game altogether, what a place!

It was an amazing trip and we are definitely going back. Some positives - the two mule handlers who were trekking with us were so sweet and lovely and although spoke broken English made every attempt to talk to us, Esteban was great (really fantastic and we developed a great rapport with him by the end), the walk (although hard!)was amazing. The scenery in Bolivia was amazing too and we had the loveliest guide, Freddie, took us on the Las Cornisas trek in Chile. Apart from Salta the accommodation was great...we even survived the camping!
