Honeymoons in South America
Honeymoons are a wonderful cause for a celebration and should provide memorable experiences. South America offers opportunities for all types of honeymoon, something to suit every couple.
Here are some picture postcard memories which could be created on your honeymoon.
Wildlife cruise and adventure: M/Y Grace, Galapagos Islands
Picture this: You are sitting on the deck of a classic yacht, once owned by the royalty of Monaco, sipping a glass of chilled champagne with your loved one.
Earlier you woke, full of excitement on the first morning of your 8-day cruise in the Galapagos Islands, in your comfortable double bed in an elegant stateroom. After a filling breakfast it was time for your first adventure in the Galapagos. You snorkelled, swam with sea lions, saw many pelicans and frigate birds and had your first sighting of the blue footed boobie!
You are now looking forward to a first class lunch, and that afternoon to snorkel at the famous Kicker Rock. What incredible underwater wildlife will you see that afternoon?
A relaxing dip in the Jacuzzi that evening is part of the plan finishing off with dinner and a malt whisky in the saloon.
The M/Y Grace offers 8 day/7 night cruises around the Galapagos Islands for a maximum of 16 passengers per sailing.
Jungle adventure: Tambopata Research Center, Peru
Picture this: You climbed a canopy tower in the early hours and had a magnificent view over the treetops of the birds. Later you boarded a motorized canoe at Refugio Amazonas Lodge and set sail upriver to the Tambopata Research Center. The four hour journey went past quickly spotting the different birds, the sightings of the capybaras on the river bank were a highlight and your partner thought they had seen a jaguar through the foliage.
Now you are in the hammock on the private terrace of your deluxe suite whilst your partner is relaxing in the outdoor tub, excited about the next day’s early morning visit to the macaw clay lick and wondering how many of these fabulous birds you will see. Truly a moment for sharing.
Packages that include the Tambopata Research Centre start from 3 nights and include all meals plus excursions and round trip transportation from Puerto Maldonado.
Island adventure: Pousada Maravilha, Fernado de Noronha, Brazil
Picture this: You arrived on the island of Fernando Noronha half an hour earlier after an 80-minute flight from Recife in Brazil. Soon you had your luggage and after a 5-minute drive to the hotel you have checked in and have just walked into your bungalow. In front of you is a huge double bed with canopy set in a 54m2 room with incredible views, balcony and hot tub.
On your way to the room you saw the beautiful pool and in your head you are already envisaging sunset cruises, snorkeling, some hiking and just relaxing with your loved one over the next few days. But before all that, and dinner, you are both heading off to the spa where you have booked massages to start the experience on the right note!
You can’t help but feel you have just landed on a little bit of paradise.
We recommend at least a 3-night stay at the Pousada Maravilha and once there choose and book the activities or tours you would like to do. Relax, enjoy and do what you want to do when you want to do it!
Scenic active adventure: Tierra Patagonia, Torres del Paine, Chile
Picture this: You have juts woken up and are admiring the view at dawn snuggled up in bed and looking forward to the day ahead.
Yesterday you ticked off one of your bucket list having completed the 8-hour trek to the base of the Towers of Paine. The 40-minute climb up the moraine to base of the towers wasn’t as hard as you thought it might be and the views one at the top, with the granite spires soaring in front of you and a back drop of blue sky – with a few lenticular clouds – gave you the best photo opportunity of the whole honeymoon. Back at the hotel, a visit to the spa, a massage and then a relaxed swim whilst admiring the view from the pool capped a perfect day.
Before getting out of bed you both relish this moment before heading off on another wonderful adventure in one of the most remote and beautiful corners of the world, the Torres del Paine National Park in Chile.
All inclusive packages at the Hotel Tierra Patagonia start from 3 nights from October through May.
Cultural Adventure: Hotel Sol y Luna, Sacred Valley, Peru
Picture this: You have just finished a sumptuous gourmet dinner at the Restaurant Wayra of the Relais and Chateaux Hotel Sol y Luna in the Sacred Valley of the Incas near Cusco, Peru. Your meal, the finest Andean cuisine prepared with a wealth of locally sourced organic ingredients, shows Peru deserves its gastronomic fame.
Earlier that day you had a 3-hour private tour of the incredible fortress of Machu Picchu – wow what a place! – and in the afternoon took a train and private vehicle to the hotel. Shortly after your arrival you witnessed a display of the Peruvian Paso Horse. What beauty, what finesse!
You room is in fact a luxurious private villa with private garden terrace, a jacuzzi poised towards the Andes, a master bedroom and a living area. The decor, and in particular the murals, give you a sense of the rich culture of the place you find yourself in.
You are preparing yourselves for tomorrow’s adventures: The plan is to visit the weaving town of Chincheros, followed by a picnic next to an Andean lake and then some mountain biking in the afternoon. The day will end with a private yoga session followed by hydrotherapy with salts and essential oils, a wet sauna, a 55-minute massage and a 30-minute Jacuzzi with a glass of wine.
Why not finish an incredible trip to Peru with a 3-night stay at the Hotel Sol y Luna?
