Festival: Virgen de los Treinta y Tres
Emancipation Day commemorates the abolition of slavery in Guyana in 1834. An annual festival is held in the National Park in Georgetown where you can learn about traditional African music, art, food, dancing and games, with a focus on the history of emancipation.

Festival: Diwali
Diwali is the Hindu Festival of Light, symbolising the triumph of good over evil. It is celebrated for two nights with a grand lighted motorcade in Georgetown on the first night and the lighting of hundreds of diyas on the second night.
