Peru is one of the most diverse of all the Andean nations. The Cordillera of the Andes run the length of the country. It is the glaciers and soaring peaks of the Andes that form the backdrop to our magnificent Peru trekking holidays.
We organise small group treks and private hiking tours, to suit all tastes. Some are bespoke, some are small group departures. From half days walks, to 12 days of remote mountain trekking, ask for our recommendations.
If you love to camp then join our classic four-day Inca Trail to Machu Picchu or choose the longer, remote, magnificent Cordillera Huayhuash circuit of ten days. The 4-day Santa Cruz loop or nine days on the Alpamayo loop, are both treks taking your deep into the Cordillera Blanca. In the verdant far north of Peru trek though wildlife-rich cloud forest to enigmatic pre-Inca ruins. Hummingbirds abound.
If you prefer lodge accommodation to camping, then we suggest the lodge to lodge Salkantay trail and the lodge based Lares trek. If you would like to see the Rainbow mountains and to trek in style then join our Ausangate Lodges trekking tour. You head into the great Vilcanota mountain range, just south of Cusco, for 5 or 6 days of remote stunning mountain walking, with comfortable lodges at night.
We work with expert trekking guides, the best support teams, cooks, assistants, donkey drivers and porters on all walking holidays. Pack animals carry the load and all equipment is supplied.
Peru walking holidays take you to remote Andean villages, over high mountain passes and to the feet of glaciers. The Andes are peppered with ancient ruins, whether you follow a section of Inca Trail or pathways through thick cloud forest. At night rest at camps, mountain refuges or luxury eco-lodges.

The Santa Cruz – Ulta trek was good acclimatization training for Huayhuash and we were glad we did this trek first. The four young Americans with us were good company. The high camp below Yanayaku Pass across from Contrahierbas and the pass itself, and the earlier close-up sight of Alpamayo from the base camp side were the scenic highlights for us on this short trek. Huayhuash is in a different league scenically and physically. It is really spectacular. It’s also not for the beginner trekker. We really liked our own small trip and flexibility we had in altering things with Rodolfo’s suggestions and knowledge. Rodolfo was absolutely terrific in every way. He is an excellent organiser and guide and very worldly in his knowledge and views. So all in all we are very happy with AT and your on-ground operations in Peru. Again, Rodolfo was terrific in Huaraz and on the trail.

There were a number of "reach the pass and see spectacular landscapes open up" moments; those were probably the high points. I would highly recommend both the circuit and your company to anyone interested in that kind of experience (some strenuous hours, no-frills travel style, spectacular unspoiled landscapes).
